Association of Friends

The Förderverein NS Dokumentationszentrum Freiburg was established as an association of friends on 28 March 2022, on the initiative of Ulrich von Kirchbach, the First Mayor of the City of Freiburg.
The association's mission is to provide financial assistance for the establishment, fitting out and subsequent expansion of the documentation centre. In the longer term, the plan is also to offer financial support for scientific research and the dissemination of historical knowledge. Moreover, the association aims to enhance the reputation and visibility of the documentation centre in the Freiburg region, Southern Baden and beyond. Additionally, it seeks to emphasise the importance of addressing the history of National Socialism in a public and societal context.

Landeszentrale für politische Bildung – Freiburg Chapter

The documentation centre is designed to serve as a forum for dialogue, collaboration and debate. The Freiburg Chapter of the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung will also be located in the building complex on Rotteckring. The close proximity of the two institutions and the numerous thematic overlaps provide a favourable basis for the exchange of ideas, collaboration and the organisation of joint events.
 
The establishment process would not have been possible without the voluntary commitment and participation of dedicated individuals from the Exhibition and Programme Advisory Board, the Working Group Gedenken and the Academic Advisory Board. These individuals have provided invaluable support and guidance over many years and their contributions are greatly appreciated.
