In Remembrance of the Persecuted Citizens of Freiburg

The Memorial Room, located in the covered courtyard, is dedicated to the memory of all those from Freiburg who were persecuted during the NS era. The Memorial Room displays the names of those who were murdered or died as a result of persecution between 1933 and 1945, as far as this information is known. The rear part of the room is dedicated to the memory of the persecuted Jewish inhabitants of Freiburg and the destroyed Freiburg synagogue. Several foundation stones of the synagogue, which stood until 1938 a few hundred metres away on the site of today's Old Synagogue Square, are embedded in the floor.

If you have any further names, photographs or information that should be included in the memorial room, please contact us.

If available/known, photos and information on the individual names can be accessed via the Museen Freiburg app. These biographies will be added to on an ongoing basis.
